The Role:
Elusav have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Fire Safety Director in Dublin, with one of the most reputable and leading Fire consultancy, with established operations in Austrailia, run by a highly experience Fire consultant from Ireland, who has previously worked at Associate director level in Ireland previously with 10 years experience locally, and has strong network locally.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage the project work assigned by the Project Director / Managing Director within time and cost budgets to achieve profitable projects.
- Act as Assigned Certifier on construction projects, ensuring compliance with building regulations
- Preparation of Fire Safety Certificate and Disability Access Certificate Applications for various building types.
- Be responsible for fee proposals, undertaking business development activities and establishing a network of clients/colleagues.
- Producing detailed fire strategies and all necessary supporting calculations / assessments to fulfil the design obligations of each project
- Review design drawings and specifications for compliance with building regulations
- Monitor construction progress and carry out inspections at key stages
- Issue required certificates and documentation in accordance with Building Control Regulations
- Manage others in the development and implementation of fire strategies, projects, and research initiatives.
- Prepare other technical engineering analysis such as CFD Modelling, Structural fire engineering, etc...
- Carry out site visits to monitor construction installation as part of BCAR obligations
- Communicate with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders on technical matters
- Participate in project management tasks and ensure deadlines are met
- Coordinating residual hazards and risks.
- Providing competent advice to clients and designers for compliance with legislation and best practice.
- Ensure financial management of projects assigned including fee invoicing and debtor control;
- Be a focal point of reference for the client and other members of the project team and maintain regular and effective communication;
- Participate in activities to extend own knowledge;
- Mentor, Supervise and train fire engineer from junior to senior level within the business.
- Liaise, conduct meetings and facilitate approval from the relevant authorities including the local municipality, fire authority as applicable;
- Negotiate with statutory and regulatory authorities;
- Seek, analyse, and respond to client feedback appropriately;
- Check and approve reports as required;
- Ensure all documents are filed in the project filing system within 24 hours or receipt, thereby assisting to maintain the professional standard of the office
- Participate in improving competencies;
- Maintain registration and accredited/chartered fire engineer status;
- Request/seek to develop new skills and competencies measured against annual assessment;
- Contribute to continuous improvement.
Job Requirements:
- Chartered Engineer or equivalent professional qualification.
- At least 2 years of experience working as an Assigned Certifier in an engineering consultancy.
- In-depth knowledge of Irish building regulations and Building Control Regulations.
- Ability to competently conduct Fire, Smoke, and Egress Modelling.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate with statutory authorities, fire authorities, etc.
- Excellent communication and report writing skills.
