Pharmaceutical Expansion – Contract manufacturer Hovione has announced that is expanding its Cork site in Loughebeg and will create up to 100 jobs over a three-yar period. The Cork expansion is part of a global expansion strategy representing an investment of €148m, increasing its capacity at its site in Ireland the US and Portugal.  The Cork site has expanded rapidly over since it was established in 2009,  having more than quadrupled in terms of numbers. The company currently employs 200 people in Cork.

Water Acquisition - Environmental management company BHSL has agreed to acquire water contractor Glan Agua. Clean water and wastewater solutions specialist Glan Agua works with leading water utilities in the UK and Ireland and is a division of a Portuguese engineering and construction company Mota-Engil. The acquisition will more than double BHSL’s revenues with plans for sales in 2022 of over £85m. The combined businesses will have over 300 staff across the UK and Ireland with expansion of Glan Agua set to add a further 50 employees in the coming months.

Sustainable Solar - MSD Ireland is seeking planning permission from Tipperary County Council to develop the 6.5 megawatts (MW) solar farm, contributing 15pc of MSD Ballydine’s electrical energy and offsetting over 3.4 million kg of CO2 per annum. The investment is potentially worth over €5m.

Wicklow Port – Wicklow Port has been confirmed as the preferred home for Codling Wind Park’s Operations and Maintenance base. The new base will provide offices, warehousing and vessel berthing facilities, as well as an operations control centre. A total of 115 jobs are anticipated during the construction and operational phases, while 75 new and long-term jobs will be created in areas such as maintenance, technician, engineering, administration, and other roles.

Green Jobs – Green Energy company ActionZero, a company which develops technologies and services dedicated to decarbonising heat, plans to create 80 jobs as company has doubled its headcount size in the last two months. ActionZero presently has staff based in Cork and Kerry, with sales staff deployed throughout the island of Ireland. The move follows the company’s significant expansion over the past two months. The company expects to play a role in Ireland’s transition to a decarbonized economy over the next decade.

Legato Limerick – Legato Health Technologies plans to double its Irish headcount to 120 people by adding 60 new jobs. The newly established Limerick based will be home to 120 high quality jobs across Business Analytics, Data Science, Machine Learning and Product Management. The company already has 20,000 employees around the world. Its Irish expansion is being supported by IDA Ireland. The Limerick R&D hub marks its first investment in Europe.
