- New Hospital Build – Plans for a new 150 Bed hospital in limerick have been submitted by Bons Secours Health Systems. This will add to the portfolios of the groups hospitals in Dublin, Tralee, Cork and Galway and its acquired Barrington’s hospital in the centre of Limerick.
- R&D Biofuels - Ireland’s leading home heating appliance manufacturer Grant engineering has invested over €250,000 in pioneering a major R&D project into the use of a biofuel known as Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO). The use of the Biofuel in a specific blend could result in around 88% reduction in carbon emissions, which could drastically help reduce carbon emissions in rural areas and hard to heat homes throughout Ireland in a cost effective and sustainable manner.
- Galway City North - Planning approval has been approved for the Galway City North Development -An urban development, on 19 acres of lands nears the Ballybrit area. The development will create up to 500 jobs during construction, and will include 4 office blocks (4-5 storeys high) to accommodate up to 4000 workers, 8 residential blocks (2-8 storeys high) a 222 bed hotel, and a cultural centre with exhibition space, community café and meeting spaces for residents.
- Hotels to Housing - A Strategic Housing Development (SHD) scheme for build-to-rent apartments up to 12 storeys tall is being sought for a site on Upper Abbey Street in Dublin. The scheme is looking to replace plans for a 303 bed hotel, and 277 aparthotel which is already under construction. The developer Ballark are looking to replace the proposed development with a 227 build to rent apartments, 7 would be studios, 152 one-beds and 58 two-beds in two 12-storey blocks.
- Wastewater Wicklow - Ward&Burke Limited have been awarded a €139-million wastewater treatment plant for Arklow. The project once complete will end discharges of raw sewage into the river Avoca. Arklow is the largest remaining town in Ireland without an Wastewater treatment facility. The project includes a treatment plant designed to provide treatment capacity for a population equivalent of up to 36,000 people and two interceptor sewer pipelines (along North and South Quay) to bring untreated wastewater to the plant and an outfall pipe to safely discharge treated effluent to the Irish Sea. It is due to be completed and operational by 2025.
- Expanding workforce - Watson-Marlow Ireland has opened a new facility in cork to manufacture a robust supply of their supply of puresu® single-use (Tubing) assemblies. The addition of the new facility will add 10 staff to the company’s workforce in cork. The new facility is a new Class 7 cleanroom and validated to biopharmaceutical industry standards.
- Acquisitions - Gaeltech Group has acquired a 38% stake in wind energy company Optinergy. Optinergy specialises in the provision of operations and maintenance services across several wind farms in Ireland and Northern Ireland. Following this deal, Optienergy plans to double its turnover by 2023 and increase its headcount by 50%.
