Renewable Energy Campus – Bord Na Mona is expected to lodge a planning application for the development of an “Energy Park” across 7400 acres of its landbank across Meath, Offaly and Westmeath. The site could potentially generate 200 Megawatts of Electricity, generated by a multitude of renewable sources such as wind, solar and green hydrogen production. It’s expected the site will be attractive for industrial and high-demand energy users such as large-scale distribution facilities and data centres.
Energy Storage - Corre Energy an Irish Led Renewable energy company based in the Netherlands, received strong demands raising €12 million from an initial Public offering (IPO) in Dublin this week, instead of 10m It initially set out to raise, giving the company a market cap of €62 Million. The company specialize in grid-scale underground energy storage using hydrogen-fuelled Compressed Air Energy Storage with bulk green hydrogen storage and production and has a number of large scale infrastructure projects currently in progress and in the pipeline.
Jobs Boost Galway - Integer, a Medical device outsource manufacturer is to expands its Galway Operations with the construction of a new €30M Manufacturing facility, that could lead to the creation of 200 new jobs. Building works is expected to begin next year and conclude in 2023. The new facility in the Parkmore East area of Galway is intended to help the company to meet increased demand for research, development and manufacturing capabilities, as well as capacity for catheters and delivery systems
Wind Farm Expansion - Bord na Móna and ESB have secured funds for the Oweninny windfarm expansion. The winds farm will be expanded to create up to an additional 83MW in energy, and will cost $150m. The Oweninny development a 50-50 collaboration between Bord na Mona and ESB. The first phase of the Owenniny development was completed in 2019, and has a capacity of 89MW.
Expanding Engineering Consultancy – Ethos Engineering plans to create 150 New jobs in Ireland over the next fours years as part of its European Expansion. Ethos intends to double its revenues to €30m by 2025. The company has revealed a new pipeline of work across Europe and in Kenya, and said it will focus on areas including data centre design and smart buildings.
New Dublin Train Station - Pelletstown, the newest station on the Irish Rail network has officially opened to the communities of Ashington and Royal Canal Park in Dublin. The station was built following an investment of €10.5 million. The new station is situated between Ashtown and Broombridge stations on the Dublin to Maynooth/M3 Parkway line, with a journey time of as little as 12 minutes from the city centre and is the first new station to open on the Iarnród Éireann network since Oranmore opened in 2013.Discussion around the construction of the station in Pelletstown has been ongoing for more than 20 years, and it was finally given planning permission in 2014.
