Veterinary Biopharma Expansion – Zoetis, A biopharma company specializing in the manufacture of Veterinary products has announced the creation of up to 100 new jobs, after it announced the expansion of its manufacturing and development facility in Tullamore. The planned expansion of the existing Zoetis facility in Tullamore is expected to strengthen and diversify the Zoetis global manufacturing and supply network.  The expansion is expected to break ground in early 2022 and become fully operational by 2025 subject to planning approval.

€165 Billions Infrastructure Investment  - plans to pump a record €165bn into infrastructure projects by 2030, as Ireland struggles to keep pace with a fast-growing population after decades of under-investment in the sector. The details represent a record level of investment and is up from €116bn in the previous NDP.

Med Device Expansion - Boston Scientific has announced a €30 million investment in its Cork facility to accelerate the development and manufacturing of minimally invasive medical technologies that treat patients suffering from cancer and peripheral arterial diseases. The investment is expected to create an additional 70 jobs. 

Apprenticeship Promotion – The government have prepared an action plan to ensure 10,000 new apprentices will come on stream every year from 2025 to fill the 80,000 jobs needed for the €165 Billion National Development Plan. 

Retail Development – Lidl continues to expand its presence in Ireland with the construction of an additional store, which began this week in Laois. The development will cost an estimated €6 million. This investment forms part of the companies larger investment plan of €550 million over the next 3 years in Ireland.  

Modular Expansion - Modulacc, a modular construction company has announced plans for an additional 25 new staff in Limerick to meet the growing demand for energy efficient modular units,  especially in the education sector.  The plans are aided by their recently opened second offsite Manufacturing facility. 

Cleaner Water – Irish water have announced plans to upgrade an additional 21 Wastewater treatment plants as part of the small towns and Village’s growth Programme. This follows the announcement of the 15 projects announced earlier in the year. The infrastructure upgrades will provide additional capacity for the development of new homes, while ensuring that wastewater continues to be treated to an appropriate standard.

New Reservoir – Over 200,000 people in Dublin will benefit from more secure and safer water supply with the completion of the new Stillorgan reservoir by Irish water. Stillorgan reservoir was one of Ireland largest and oldest reservoirs (150 Years Old). Work began on the upgrade project in 2018, and the new reservoir now has the capacity to store 160 million litres of treated drinking water – that’s the equivalent of over 60 Olympic sized swimming pools.

Landmark City hotel – Work has started on the near €30m redevelopment of the former Moore’s Hotel site in Cork — a riverside site which was declared derelict three years ago after lying vacant for almost 15 years. The project will consist of demolition works, and the construction of a new four-to-six storey mixed-use development that will include a Premier Inn hotel (187 Beds)   and three office blocks. The project is due for completion and ready for fit-out by summer 2023, in the hope that the hotel will be ready for occupation by Christmas.
